Successful remote on-line machinery commissioning and start-up

Baker Perkins’ range of food processing equipment is complemented perfectly by SPG’s ingredient weighing and feeding systems. Along with the strength of the combined sales and service networks this will enable Baker Perkins and SPG to develop new opportunities in the rapidly-growing food industry worldwide.
SPG has identified food as an important growth sector and sees the skills, resources and customer relationships that Baker Perkins will add to the company as an ideal platform to build on.
To Baker Perkins, SPG will bring enhanced distribution and service as well as a new product range to support future growth, while remaining fully committed to existing facilities in Peterborough and Grand Rapids, Michigan. The business will continue to be run by existing management teams in the UK and USA as part of the SPG regional business structure.
Baker Perkins' customers will see no change in the service they receive. The name is being retained, and customers will be dealing with the same people providing the same high levels of care. A change in corporate identity will be the only indication of new ownership.
Schenck is acquiring Baker Perkins because it is a successful and profitable business. It is a continuation of SPG’s strategic focus to further extend its global offering for the food end-markets. It will significantly strengthen SPG European capabilities in the food processing and equipment sector, broaden product offering in the Americas and provide opportunities for growth across the Asia Pacific region.
Baker Perkins’ industrial extruder division is a good fit for Schenck’s material handling systems in industries such as plastics, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
Based in Darmstadt, Germany, Schenck Process Group is the world market leader in measuring and process technology. The name Schenck Process is synonymous throughout the world with process expertise and well-engineered measuring technology for weighing, feeding, conveying, thermal processing, pulverizing and classification, screening, mixing and blending, air filtration and automation.
Baker Perkins is a successful UK-based global supplier of food processing equipment and aftermarket services for the bakery, confectionery, food extrusion, breakfast cereal, pet food and biscuit, cookie and cracker end-markets. Headquartered in Peterborough, United Kingdom, and with facilities in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, Baker Perkins serves a diverse and growing mix of customers across the food industry globally.
