Baker Perkins, a leading manufacturer and supplier of systems for food processing and performance materials, and member of the Schenck Process Group, has appointed Tom Phillips as Sales Account Manager.
Tom, a former electrical apprentice for Baker Perkins, will be responsible for their confectionery, cereal and food extrusion customers across the company’s Asia-Pacific region, while also supporting the Schenck Process Group’s head office for the APAC countries, which is based in Thailand.
Living in the UK, Tom served his apprenticeship at Baker Perkins and spent twelve years at the firm, latterly in the commissioning team where he supported customers from installation through to production. Following a further five years running an engineering team at a food manufacturer, he has returned to Baker Perkins to put his skills and experience to further use in a new role.
As Sales Account Manager, Tom will be responsible for advising manufacturers on new systems, equipment and services as well as working with customers to trial new recipes and replicate their existing or proposed processes for optimisation – both of which from the group’s Test & Innovation Centre in Thailand.
Asked about the new role, Tom said, “I’m excited about the prospect of helping customers harness the benefits of Baker Perkins technologies to improve their production processes.
It’s brilliant to be back working with great people, some of whom I’ve known since I was an apprentice.”

As a Leeds United season ticket holder, Tom can regularly be found outside of work cheering his side on at Elland Road. Other hobbies include cycling – including charity fundraising rides – and spending time with family and friends.
