Extrusion Showcase emphasises our latest powder coating developments

Managers from powder coating companies around the world gathered at Peterborough to view the latest production technology and discuss ideas for widening the application base for powder coating.

Baker Perkins’ Extrusion Showcase gave visitors from Europe, the USA and South East Asia an update on the latest equipment and process developments. Machines from our full range of recently upgraded production-scale MPX twin-screw extruders were in the final stages of assembly, while a long-barrelled machine for a European plastics company indicated the adaptability of these machines for wider applications.

Baker Perkins is a supplier of complete powder coating process lines, and the Showcase featured additional presentations from mixer supplier Promixon, feeder manufacturer Brabender Technologie and cooling conveyor provider BBA-Innova. A Neuman & Esser grinding machine was also presented and displayed.

Delegates also viewed demonstrations of powder coating production in Baker Perkins’ new Industrial Extrusion Innovation Centre.

The keynote presentation by Kevin Biller, from the Powder Coating Research Group in the USA, was titled ‘Forging a new path - materials and processes to open up new markets’. Suggestions included automotive components, carbon film wooden laminates, UPVC for windows and doors, and garden furniture.

The delegates agreed that the Showcase was time well spent, calling it a “well organised and efficiently run event” hosted at “a very impressive manufacturing and demonstration facility with knowledgeable staff”.
