Granola Products

Baked granola is tasty and versatile, and can be formed into a selection of appealing products.

Granola is made from oats, and after baking can be kibbled to produce clusters which are bagged as a cereal, or slit into bars.  Baker Perkins equipment is specifically designed to make this popular product.

Mixing

Dry ingredients are fed to the mixer and pre-mixed. Dissolved syrup and vegetable oil are then fed by pump and added to the mixer to form a mass.

Live bottom bin and elevating conveyor

The live bottom bin receives the mass from the mixer and provides a metered feed to the feeder spreader unit via the elevating conveyor.

Feeder spreader

This unit receives the granola mix from the elevating conveyor and distributes the product across the width of the oven. It comprises a hopper and two contra-rotating feed rolls to create a loose sheet of constant thickness that is laid onto the oven band.

Compression roll

This unit provides a final consolidation and gauging of the sheet before the oven. The unit compacts the product to the desired thickness after it has been fed onto the oven band by the feeder spreader.

TruBake HiCirc oven

A high-rate direct convection heating system achieving exceptional product quality, high throughput and low operating costs. The TruBake HiCirc can be configured to the precise needs of any application.   Assisted cooling at the oven discharge binds the mass together to give the characteristic baked granola crunch.

Granola breaking and kibbling

Three units are involved in turning the baked sheet of granola product into the kibbled cereal cluster product.  They are a pre-breaker, mechanical conveyor, and kibbling unit.
