Position Title: Technical Sales Support (Capital Sales)

  • The Technical Sales Support for Capital Sales provides sales support services including layouts, technical proposals, costing, pricing, equipment spec generation, customer liaison, administration of pre-order and order launch activities, equipment testing, and process trials.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the qualification of sales leads by communicating Baker Perkins equipment solutions to designated customers via email and other marketing tools
  • Respond to designated territory web and equipment call inquiries
  • Provide first line contact with customers requesting information on Baker Perkins equipment and services
  • Generate commercially viable proposals which are timely, accurate and fit for purpose
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates to complement proposals
  • Communicate with external suppliers to obtain accurate costs base for equipment and services
  • Manage the capital quoting process to ensure that all pricing, financial supplements and technical specifications for quotations and orders are reported to management for appropriate pricing decisions and approvals
  • Define equipment technical specifications in conjunction with company engineering teams and applications engineer
  • Support the pre-order activities of the sales team in the areas of costing, pricing, equipment spec generation, equipment testing, and process trails
  • Prepare equipment layout and process drawings, organize and oversee project briefs and order launch with appropriate individuals and/or departments
  • Answer customer inquiries, track orders, pull docket/history information together, and provide supplemental information as needed
  • Maintain customer electronic records to ensure the database contains accurate customer contact, correspondences, visit reports, and inquiries
  • Attend sales, customer quote, and project meetings, generate reports and track information as requested by account managers and staff
  • May provide project management on selected projects, and support of process trials in the Innovation Centre may be required from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers and internal team members
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and AutoCad
  • Ability to work independently, deal with complex issues involving customer relations, coordinate, prioritize, and complete multiple projects in a timely manner
  • Basic accounting skills; ability to work well with numbers
  • Technical knowledge, high degree of mechanical and electrical aptitude, ability to read layout drawings, and travel to customers, vendor locations and trade shows may be required.
