Job Title: IT Engineer (12 Mths FTC)

Location: Peterborough

Position this role reports to: IT Department

Job Grade: 12 (Indicative)

Job Purpose:

To work as part of the IT team to provide desk-side support, server administration and client configuration to maintain service levels

Qualifications:

An IT based qualification (preferable)

Main Duties:

  • Provide next line support to the IT Developers and IT 1st Line Support Engineer
  • Own Helpdesk entries, prioritising entries and providing resolution to end user within departmental KPIs
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot Windows desktop operating systems and hardware
  • Provide application support to end users – including MS Office, Epicor, Siemens PLM
  • Perform day-to-day administration on LAN infrastructure and IP-based telephone system
  • Perform basic administrative tasks and monitoring on network, Active Directory, Azure, security infrastructure, storage and virtual environments to ensure availability of systems
  • Perform basic SQL Database Administration role across multiple versions and systems
  • Perform basic software development duties – including but not limited to Visual studio coding, and data analysis
  • Help define (or update), document and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure consistency
  • Assist IT Systems Admin with defining, scheduling, testing and implementation of IT projects
  • Ad hoc duties within the IT Department
  • To be aware of and follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures (Please delete as appropriate)
  • To be aware of and follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures including feeding back any H&S information to management.
  • Be aware of and demonstrate the company values and behaviours.

Profile:

  • Experience of supporting/troubleshooting and configuring a range of Windows based products in a Helpdesk environment
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of current Microsoft desktop and server operating systems and Baker Perkins core applications
  • Broad knowledge of hardware, software, communications and general technology in the corporate arena
  • Basic knowledge of networking, configuration of firewalls, switches and security systems
  • Able to work under pressure, both alone and as part of a team and prioritise tasks accordingly
  • Customer focused and be responsible for level of service given
  • Good communication skills and able to communicate at all corporate levels on the telephone and in person
  • Some out of hours work is required including but not limited to joining the IT call out rota, so a flexible approach to working hours is necessary
