Position Title: Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Technician

Status: Full-Time

  • The Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Technician performs equipment repair, maintenance and troubleshooting services in-house, at suppliers and/or customer locations.
  • This position must maintain and promote good relationships between Baker Perkins and the customer.


  • Review of electrical, mechanical and controls assembly, along with prints and manual and determine intended function
  • Demonstrate and test the functionality of a new machine to a customer at customer facility
  • Provide feedback to engineering on new machines, controls, systems, or improvements to existing equipment
  • Writing / modifying / installing PLC code and graphics software
  • Supporting design, panel build, machine wiring for assigned projects
  • Installing and commissioning baking equipment
  • Training customers on operation of equipment
  • Assisting customer with machine repairs: diagnose problems, replace/repair defective parts, test and adjust equipment as necessary
  • Support Aftermarket with design of kits to up-grade existing equipment range
  • Solutions to improve customer’s operations and support of spare parts business
  • Maintaining technical electronic records and documentation for assigned projects
  • Complying with safety regulations (BP, customer and federal) and completing oven safety inspections on customer equipment
  • Position requires 50%-70% travel


  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers and internal team members on a technical and commercial level
  • Understanding of cookie, cracker, and confectionary equipment operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot, navigate, write and program AB PLCs (Siemens experience preferred as well)
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, controls and mechanical equipment problems
  • Knowledge of computer software, such as Microsoft Office, AutoDesk products, etc.


  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or other engineering program


  • Associate degree and 2+ years of experience with PLC & HMI programming
